Fall in Tahoe

Are you visiting Tahoe over the Thanksgiving holiday and wondering what to do? Here are a few suggestions:

Friday, November 22nd. Tahoe City’s First Thanksgiving Community Dinner, at the Rideout Community Center, in Timberland. 5:30 to 7:30 Pm
Guess what, you can start the holidays a week early and eat even more turkey! Yeah, and of course share some great community time with the locals. The event is a fundraiser for our local food heroes, Project Mana. The food is donated by local businesses, and you just need to bring a non-perishable item, or even better several non-perishable items to join in the festivities, and support a great cause.

Thursday, November 28, THANKSGIVING.
Your instructions are easy: Eat a lot of turkey. Play football. Watch Football. Burp. Need more Thanksgiving ideas? Check out my story on Tahoe Thanksgiving traditions on page thirteen of the Reno News and Review Thanksgiving guide. http://issuu.com/news_review/docs/r-2013-11-07_family

Friday, November 29th
While called Black Friday in some circles, here at Tahoe we are calling it the beginning of Shop Local North Lake Tahoe, which goes on until January 10th. Yes, Tahoe is made up of a lot of small businesses that have been doing their best to get through the slow season, which hopefully begins to come to an end right around Thanksgiving. Help out our local businesses, so they will be here the next time you visit.

Saturday, November 30th. Tahoe City Holiday Hop. So to get that Shop Local North Lake Tahoe thing going full speed ahead, the local merchants are giving a little push. Between 12-6 pm stores in Tahoe City will be providing wine, snacks and a festive atmosphere for you to shop. You can even get your photo with Santa at the Watson Cabin between 2-4 pm.

Saturday, November 30th
Warren Miller’s latest movie Ticket to Ride, will screen at the Squaw Valley Olympic Village Conference Center in Squaw Valley. The latest Warren Miller movie is always the unofficial start to Tahoe ski season. So get out there and enjoy the indoors to get ready for the outdoors. (By the way, this movie is also available for your viewing pleasure on Friday night, November 29th). For more information go to: https://warrenmillermovienorthlaketahoe.eventbrite.com
