Fishing Lake Tahoe

Other than the lake, Lake Tahoe is home to many streams, rivers, and smaller bodies of water that are all excellent for fishing. Many varieties of trout can be found in these waters such as rainbow, brook, brown, golden, and the mackinaw, which can be up to 20 pounds or even larger. Others include kokanee salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, perch, and mountain whitefish. Cast your line from the shore or hire a boat charter for the big catch in the deeper parts of the lake.

The Beach

Lake Tahoe’s crystal clear waters are surrounded by silky sand beaches that are excellent for picnicking, sunbathing, or watching the sunset. Secluded hike-in spots are great to get away from it all, while some beaches host weekly concerts to get everyone together. In Tahoe there is a beach to suite everyones wants and needs.

Shopping

Like most mountain towns, Lake Tahoe has some great shopping. Charming clothing shops, little boutiques, jewelry stores, and souvenir shops are all great places to check out.

Hiking

The Sierra Nevada’s of Lake Tahoe provide hundreds of miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous. The trail to Prey Meadows and Skunk Harbor is an easy hike that leads you to an abundance of wildflowers in the spring or a cove that is perfect for swimming and sunbathing in the summer. Though more strenuous, the six mile hike to the top of Mt. Rose will leave you with breathtaking views of the lake and the city of Reno.
