With the rugrats back in school and the chaos of summer winding down, it’s finally time to kick up your feet and enjoy some quality time with your sweetheart. Kids are going to back school so early these days, which means free time for parents to have their own summer fun! The summer sun is still shining, and Lake Tahoe is calling for you to get outside and try one of the many romantic adventures for vacationing (or local!) lovebirds.
Glide around the Lake
Parasailing is not only for die hard adventurers, and with warm summer sun still shining well through September now is the best time to test your bravery and soar through the sky! This is the perfect opportunity to hold each other tightly as you gently fly above the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe.
Hike in Tahoe Nordic Center
If you are visiting Lake Tahoe and are not familiar with the Nordic Center, make sure you plan some time to explore this beautiful area. During the winter this area is a cross-country skier’s dream, but in the summer the trails are open for hiking! Bring your sweetie and get lost in the seemingly endless trails that weave through abundant pines and blossoming flowers.
You will feel like the only two people in the world as you look over the breathtaking serenity of Lake Tahoe from the high points in the Tahoe Nordic Center. Hiking in Tahoe is a must do, and with the wilderness at the Nordic Center calling, there is no excuse not to enjoy the warm August and September sun.
Float above the World!
What could be more fun than floating above Lake Tahoe surrounded by the dramatic mountains, with a giant rainbow balloon above your head! Hot air ballooning evokes feelings of childlike wonder, and with a loved one this Lake Tahoe activity is both exhilarating and romantic. With spectacular views from all around, some might say that this is the best way to view the lake. The sky does seem like a pretty great vantage point!
Pack a Picnic
So you both have the whole day free, and want to spend some time exploring around Lake Tahoe? Fallen Leaf Lake, about an hour south of Tahoe City, is a great alternative to another day at Common’s Beach. Fallen Leaf lake is surrounded by a network of great hiking trails, and you and your better half will love the tranquility of this lesser known gem in South Lake Tahoe.
Bring a picnic and spend the day and use the picnic benches, or set up camp at the beach and chow down on a sandy sandwich! After lunch make your way over to the small cafe on the lake and share an ice cream with your sweetheart.
For the more adventurous lovebirds Fallen Leaf lake is also a wonderful starting point to hike Mt Tallac, the highest mountain in the basin. Just remember, no piggy back rides!
