Summer in Tahoe

Yes, here in Tahoe we love our winters, but we also revel in our way too short, but oh so sweet summers. We want to spend as much of these warm days as we can outside…so why not do yoga outside? And not just on your own, which of course is good as well, but with a bunch of other folks. And sometimes, even better, how about right smack dab on the shore of Lake Tahoe. I mean how good is that?

So, here for your stretching pleasure are a few ways to get your outdoor yoga on:

Quick! As in this week. Free yoga classes with Jenna Minnes as part of the Alpenglow Mountain Festival. Tuesday, June 24th at 8 am and Sunday, June 29th at 8 am on The Commons Beach next to the lake in Tahoe City. And on Thursday, Hanni Schwiesow will be doing her magic, same time, same place. Yeah! It’s a week to do some on the beach yoga. You do have to register for the classes, but it’s a snap online. Just go to alpenglowsports.com and go to the mountain festival link.

There are Lakefront Yoga classes at the West Shore cafe in Homewood until August 30th. Find yourself there Every Wednesday and Saturday at 8 am. A great line up of local instructors will include Jenna, Hanni,  Tammie Graham-Miller and Deanna Kay. Drop in classes are $12.

Yoga Squaw’d. Just about every Wednesday night from now through the end of August you can catch a free yoga class at 5 pm at First Street in the center of the Village at Squaw Valley. Instructors include local favorites Sherry McConkey, Shari Beard, Jenna Bailey, and Katie Dunn Davenport.

So I guess I have no excuse for my soreness but my lack of gumption to get to class. See you there soon.
