Previously called DOUGLAS, this modest mountain cabin is nestled in the trees, backs to National Forest land, and is perfect for hiking, biking and snowmobiling and cross country skiing. This home features a large hot tub on the wrap-around deck, with trees helping protect some privacy from the road. Living room with sofabed, woodburning fireplace, DVD player, full kitchen, 1/2 bath and laundry, and dining area. One room has a Queen bed with flatscreen TV/DVD, the other with 2 Single beds, flatscreen TV/DVD and a full bath between. This is not a fancy cabin and one of our least expensive homes on our program. A great value compared to most hotels with 3 bedrooms in the area!

Perfect for family of 3-4 with the dogs!

Chains or snow tires are required in winter. Please read our Winter Disclosure found by clicking Area Guide/Know Before You Go found at the top of any page.

The comments we made from our stay during the summer of 2016 to this summer were addressed. The staff is very easy to work with and good on their follow-up.

Livin' the good life
As an older cabin built in the 60's, a great deal of care has gone into modernizing it as well as retaining the coziness of a woodside cabin. 3 flatscreen Tv's, a Teac sound system with docking station, new window coverings, appears freshly painted, comfortable bed, very efficient deep large wood fireplace (lots of wood), good appliances with plenty of dishware, glasses, gadgets, large wraparound deck with new umbrella and good sized spa, lots of windows and natural light inside, and a tub shower with good showerhead and good water flow. If I had to offer a negative, it would be the floor covering. With so many visitors and pets, floors without carpeting have an advantage. The location of this cabin was perfect for walkers, hikers, mountain bikers, and definitely dogs. The home backed up to the woods and a really popular trail. The home is therefore private as only 1 home is next to it; but the local population use the trail religiously each morning and late afternoon. We enjoyed meeting the "neighbors" and their dogs as they began their forest walk. Sadie, our german shepherd mix, was the official greeter of all the 4-legged visitors. We considered this cabin a perfect base camp, a place we could start our day with a good walk, and return in the afternoon to relax on the deck with a well-earned drink after our forays to different hiking trails on the north shore of Tahoe, read a good book, etc. Evenings were spent with a pleasant fire, maybe a good movie, dinners prepared inside or using the grill. The Hauserman Rental Group were very efficient and friendly from our first communication to checkout (and they love dogs). Just the fact that they update their rental calendars for listings gives you a clue as to their professionalism versus other rental agencies we encountered. We would trust them and use their services again when we escape to Tahoe. Yes, we would rent this cabin again when we revisit the North Shore and desire a relaxing getaway.

Super cute Cottage style home was perfect for our family of 5 and our dog. We enjoyed the deck, utilized the barbeque and hot tub as well. Our favorite part was the trails right out the back. We enjoyed the hiking, and we loved the fact that the lake was very close! We would absolutely come again!

House was simple, nothing fancy, but great for our family of four with our dog. Deck, hot tub and BBQ were all appreciated, and the trail head next to the house was an added bonus. Only complaint would be the noise of the hot tub coming on and off throughout the night just outside the master bedroom.

The location of this house is great. It's just minutes to restaurants and shops. We did an easy walk to the lake. The wooded area is fabulous for summer walks. The house itself could use some updating. We did not attempt to use the portable dishwaher. We some simple updates (new flooring, bathrooms finishes, etc.), this could be the perfect place for a family of four.
