Spring in Tahoe

The daffodils are beginning to pop, the leaves are starting to bud, and the hiking and biking trails are coming out from under their winter blankets. These are certainly all wonderful highlights of spring. But another great part about this time of year is that it’s bargain time. Area businesses, especially restaurants and other places that depend upon the summer and winter crowds, entice visitors into their establishments in the spring and fall with special deals and price breaks. Here are a few that might be of interest:

The Tree Top Adventure Park
The Tree Top Park includes 65 tree platforms connected via a variety of different types of bridges, zip lines and other contraptions. It’s safe, in a beautiful location close to Tahoe City, and a whole lot of fun for both adults and children. If you haven’t had a chance to try it, perhaps between April 25th and May 18th is the time, when they are running a 2 for 1 special for the use of the facilities. Go to northtahoeadventures.com or call 530-583-7673 for the details.

It’s time to dine.
Pick up a copy of The Weekly and Moonshine Ink for special discount coupons for local restaurants. The latest issue of The Weekly shows deals at The Soule Domain, voted best place to take a date around for 16 years running; Christy Hill and Jason’s Beachside Grille in Kings Beach, and a little birdy told me that the next issue coming out on April 24th will have more.

Take a relaxing spa day and let someone else clean the house
Other businesses that offer springtime deals include spa and massage treatments, yoga classes, house cleaning, and fitness centers.

Ah spring at Tahoe. Begin your day with a kayak or paddleboard on the glassy waters of Tahoe, then head out for a short hike to a lunch spot along the lake shore. Spend the afternoon at the Tree Top park feeling like Tarzan, and then get out the kinks with a late afternoon yoga class or massage. Then you are ready for some fine dining. And if you play your cards right, you supported some good local folks while getting a good deal. Enjoy.
