TED X Tahoe City

Ted X comes to Tahoe City’s Tahoe Art Haus and Cinema in The Cobblestone Center at 1:00 pm on September 17, 2016. The Ted X Tahoe City theme will be “Relationships” with a focus on how we connect and respond to the people, the media, the environment and culture that we encounter.

“Ultimately, TEDx Tahoe City hopes to create a better understanding of the human condition so we can approach our sports, careers, home life and our relationships with all the elements around us in a way that promotes longer, healthier, and happier lives.” says the event website.

The presentation will include 14 speakers with a wide range of experience and background. Some hail from the Lake Tahoe region, while others come from around the world:

Andrew Todhunter, award winning writer and filmmaker
Charis Denison, who will focus on empowering young people to make choices that end in honor and joy
Christin Hanna, founder of the Lake Tahoe Dance Coalition.
Edie Thys Morgan, Olympic Skier
Lily Bradley, local 9th grade student presenting slam poetry
John Muir Laws, naturalist, artist and author of renowned outdoor guides
Judy Klein, who runs nature clubs for kids and teaches wilderness medicine and survival skills. Mark Bruce, lawyer focused on environmental sustainability and youth mentoring.

Peter Mayfield, founder of the Gateway Mountain Center, which provides programs for youth in eco-literacy, field science and wellness.
Robb Gaffney, helped create the grass roots, Tahoe based movement, the Go Bigger Coalition, which seeks to reduce the level of morbidity in the outdoor community.
Roy Remer, hospice caregiver since 1997.
Steven Slate, author of The Clean Slate Addiction Site, based on his own personal experiences with addiction.
Meg Seifert, executive director of Headwaters Science Institute.
JJ Morgan, Moody’s Bistro managing Partner, a driving force behind Moody’s reputation as a venue for talented musicians for the last 14 years.

The event is primarily invitation based but a limited number of tickets are going on sale for $75 on September 5th at 7:00 pm at the Tahoe Art Haus and Cinema website: tahoearthauscinema.com

After the event, the presentation is set to be distributed via TED.com.
